چکیده

Abstract Nanoindentation is one of the most widespread methods to measure mechanical performance complex materials systems. As it allows for local characterization composite architectures with sub‐micron spatial features and a large range properties, nanoindentation commonly used properties biological materials. In situ nanoindentation, further development approach, powerful tool analysis plastic deformation failure Here, samples can be mechanically manipulated using indenter, while their behavior monitored resolution scanning electron microscope (SEM). Indeed, numerous studies demonstrate potential this approach studying fundamental material characteristics. However, so far, these measurements are performed in high‐vacuum conditions inherent conventional microscopy method, which irrelevant when structures that evolved perform hydrated conditions. work, ability conduct experiments under controlled humidity temperature inside an environmental SEM developed. This technique has become crucial design many domains where significant impact on performance. These include organic/polymer systems, microelectronic optoelectronic devices, catalysis, batteries, more.

In situ TEM nanoindentation of nanoparticles.

The deformation behavior of nanoparticles continues to be an exciting area for materials research. Typically, nanoparticles show a conspicuous lack of dislocations, even after significant deformation. Therefore, it has been suggested that dislocations cannot exist or/do not play a role on the deformation of nanoparticles. In situ TEM nanoindentation is a critical tool for addressing this issue ...

Exposure of Bed Bugs to Metarhizium anisopliae at Different Humidities.

Bed bugs Cimex lectularius L. were exposed to conidia (spores) of the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium anisopliae by feeding, aerosol spray, or contact with a treated surface. Feeding experiments demonstrated that bed bugs were innately susceptible to this fungus. However, only at 98% humidity were mortality rates high, regardless of whether bed bugs were sprayed with a fungal solution or co...

In-Situ Vibrational Spectroscopic Studies on Model Catalyst Surfaces at Elevated Pressures

Elucidation of complex heterogeneous catalytic mechanisms at the molecular level is a challenging task due to the complex electronic structure and the topology of catalyst surfaces. Heterogeneous catalyst surfaces are often quite dynamic and readily undergo significant alterations under working conditions. Thus, monitoring the surface chemistry of heterogeneous catalysts under industrially rele...

In-Situ Studies of Thermal Stability of Core–Frame Cubic Pd–Rh Nanocrystals at Elevated Temperatures

Nanosize metallic particles have long been recognized as important heterogeneous catalytic materials. Recent studies show that the atomic characteristics of metallic nanoparticles, including particle size, shape and surface composition, are critical to catalytic activity and selectivity. It has been proven that the catalytic activities of noble metals are highly dependent on their surface struc...
